Dieting is a difficult thing to do, and it can often be conflicting. It is you against yourself which rarely seems like a fair fight. Something that has helped me in my dieting is using technology so I can see exactly where I stand and how I can improve what I’m doing.
Dieting is ultimately about consuming less calories than you use in a day. This net loss results in weight loss. Sometimes the number of calories we eat and burn are just wild guesses, so we don’t really know where we stand at the end of the day. By using technology you can be more certain about how many calories you just ate at lunch and how many you burned during your walk.
There are several software programs that give very accurate estimates on calories once you enter in exactly what you ate and how much of it. By keeping a log of what you ate you can be sure of your progress. While recording the burning of calories may be a little less accurate, a good pedometer will let you know how much you walked which is a good way to estimate how many calories you burned. By careful recording of both intake and expenditure, you can have an easy to read report of how you’ve been doing, and can use any number of calorie sensitive recipe programs to help alter your meals to keep you healthy and on track with your diet.
